Been told that we can no longer feed my mum any food unless the carers do it is this wrong as they dont give enough time and effort in doing it

How often do you go and feed her? Is she on a special diet?

It sound to me like there has been a scare with someone choking on something.

It may be worth remembering this rule if you ever apply for CHC. It's a point to prove that your loved one requires specialist help to eat....can you tell I'm annoyed at the system....:(

Hello Jelba - gosh I find you post shocking. I go in at lunch time to feed my mum. As daft as it sounds I find it comforting as it feels like I am helping my mum like she has always helped me. The staff at mums NH never once said no and actually encourage it. I personally would be both upset and angry if I was told I couldnt xx

Can feed her but got to sigh a document saying if we feed her food and she chokes we are responsable for that action and not the care home but if she is very sleepy then no one can feed her

Sounds fair enough. Sign the paper, and feed her with care.
It does sound like there is an issue somewhere and they a tightening up on 'who and what''.

I asked before- Is she on a special diet? If you are taking food in from outside make sure its spot on appropriate- I am sure people take in totally inapropriate thing sometimes, but to lack of understanding, so as long as what you take is appropriate , and stored correctly there shouldn't be an issue.

My Dad was in a care UK home in Liverpool. Sounds like there has been an incident as some else mentioned, we didn't need to sign any forms. They were glad of the help!
