Hello all,
Am I correct that FNC level has been increased by the government?....

We are locked in to paying a hefty 'top up' fee to care home after a long and unpleasant battle with them. If FNC is increasing should the care home then be taking less top-up from us, else they are receiving more income overall than the room rate they require?

Many thanks for thoughts.....

Yes

The government accepts the recommendation, which means that clinical commissioning groups will now pay a national rate of £156.25. The increase will be backdated to 1 April 2016 for individuals who were in receipt of NHS-funded nursing care from that time.

The new rate is being paid on an interim basis while further work is done to review the element of the rate for agency nursing staff (which could lead to a reduction to the rate from 1 January 2017) and to consult on introducing regional variation from April 2017.

I think the home will just absorb the extra cash claiming it is for nursing.
If the FNC were to reduce in either January or April next year would you be prepared to pay an additional top up?

I am in the process of finding a new NH for Mom.

I visited one today that said that so far they have not received the increase but that it will be back datable and the full amount will be taken from their advertised fees.

This contrasts with the current NH whose fees do not include the FNC so there will be no reduction. Something they did not tell myself or SS who had never come across that practice before.
