Blue Badge

I am having difficulty getting a Blue Badge for my Mother who had severe Dementia.
Have any other members got any examples or advice please, to help me in my Appeal procedure.

They seem to be getting a lot tougher about who gets a blue badge these days and trying to limit it to those with severe physical limitations. It has been discussed in the past (link below) where some interesting things and useful links were posted.

It seems a crazy philosophy to me when the main criteria is;can you walk 50yds ?
and gain a permit , when the same person could spend ages walking around a supermarket
Yet refuse a permit to someone who could be frantic looking after someone with dementia and the problems they face

Has the person in question been formally diagnosed? If so, I would speak to their GP, x

Assuming England.

A Blue Badge is automatically issued if page 5 can be met else it's page 6

My LA insists on an assessment being performed if they think there is a good case for a discretionary badge, the outcome is decided on performance at this assessment, scant attention is paid to any other reports. They pay for the assessment.
