My friend was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 5 years ago and is 71 years of age. She remains in denial and although she attends a memory clinic she doesn't think she is very bad. However her memory is terrible and her confusion is bad too. She has suffered many losses in her life but has never dealt with her younger brother's death at the age of 18 after a motorbike accident. Although it is now 50 years since his death she continues to cry because she says she doesn't know where he is and hates the thought of him being alone. Despite continually reminding her of the circumstances she is unable to grasp things and there is very little we can say to comfort her. She has no interest in life, other than the little shrine she has made for her brother. We have thought that she may benefit from bereavement counselling but don't know if this is something on offer due to the Alzheimers. We have tried so many things but nothing seems to work. Her physical health seems to be suffering because of the stress she is feeling and we don't know where to turn. Any ideas please?

Would it be possible for her to see her GP? S/he might be able to prescribe something to help with the stress.
