Clubs and young groups in hertfordshire area

Hi,

Does anyone know of any day clubs or day centres in the hertfordshire area for young sufferers of Alzeimer's?

My father-in-law is 66 years old he is still healthly and capable of getting dressed himself, but my mother-in-law who needs medical treatment every 2 weeks once a day, needs him to
go to a day centre with younger sufferers who are still able to communicate and do things. He visited a day care home recently and it was full of older patients.

PLEASE HELP.

Hi Ellabella,

Have you tried a local AS branch to see if they know of any such facility? I don't know whereabouts in Hertfordshire you are but the following link takes you to the SE branches

A reminder please that anyone with suggestions for care providers should PM Ellabella rather than posting here.

Thanks

Vonny xx

Hiya

MIND also organise day centre type things, not just for dementia, which may suit younger people http://www.mind.org.uk/

Hi

We live in Hertfordshire too - in Watford and my husband is 68 years old.

I am afraid that there is not much around for younger people with Dementia. I have looked everywhere for something for my husband and I would love to hear from you if and when you find something for younger people.

My husband currently goes to a Day Centre in Watford but I am afraid the age group is much older than he is.

I wish you luck in your search.

Hi Sue,

Lovely to hear from you. My father-in-law is 66 years old, and is still very fit and healthy, he went to a local day centre in Hemel Hempstead for the first time last week and hated it and does not want to go back, it was full of older patients sitting around and that is not him. My mother-in-law needs a rest one day a week, who is having medical treatment every 2 weeks at the hospital and needs him to go to a day centre so she can attend hospital.

If I get any info from somewhere I will be in touch. If you wanted PM me with your email address to keep in touch.

Thanks

Ellabella.
