    Fish in my pond

    Hi all,
I have a pond in the garden and Bryan used to love to sit there and watch the fish and look for and count the frogs. They all seemed to vanish over time. Herons probably had the fish! I have kept the pond looking nice with flowers and bog plants etc. round and in it.Maxine did say she would buy me some more fish as a !thank you! present, but friends who came to see me last week said they would give me some of theirs. They came over yesterday with 5. 4 red and 1 white - goldfish. I also actually did see a frog the other day. I can now imagine bryan sitting there in his wheelchair looking at them and it is lovely.
Apart from when i went up to feed the birds and say hello to him today i have been in the garden. Working and sitting! I always feel so much closer to him bryan there or in the greenhouse.
Thankgoodness no more signs of slugs on his grave.
Debbie came over yesterday and helped me do some things in the garden and we didsee a mouse on the border. She thinks they are so sweet - i would rather not see them atall!
    Love and hugs Muriel xx

    Muriel

I know what you mean feeling closer to someone in the garden. I sat out in mine yesterday and just remembered the times Mum and I would sit on the patio and just relax. So I toasted her with a glass of wine.

a friend of my brothers gave me two tiny newts for my pond from the school pond last week so i'm hoping they survive. my garden is touch wildlife shall i say and there will be plenty of suitable habitats for them

    Morning Muriel,

It seems that you are experiencing your Bryan more and more around you. It is lovely that you can imagine him enjoying the pond life as well as the bird life.

May I suggest, as a fellow pondkeeper, that you give serious consideration to putting wire mesh over the surface of your pond to stop the predators getting at your fish. After seeing a carrion crow taking an interest in our pond, and then five minutes later disembowelling one of my goldfish on the lawn, we made a mesh cover for the pond a priority!

Also, foxes, rats and the neighbouring cat population could also have an unhealthy interest in the inhabitants of your pond.

A fishpond is so relaxing to have in your garden, isn't it?
