My Mum also got taken into hospital this week luckily not a 999 and the 1st day she was there she was very agitated but calmed down alot when I just held her hand and talked to her. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of the problem and your Mum will pick up soon.

I do think my mum knew I was there but at first was so deep into hallucinating that I'm not sure. A few days later and I'm sure she did know I was there but was still hallucinating quite badly.

Her ashthma came back and I had a lot of trouble getting various doctors to agree on a combined way of treating all the things troubling her at the time. Because she was so disruptive she was moved from acute ward to acute ward, I arrived one day on the latest ward she had been moved onto only to find she had been moved yet again and no one knew where she had been moved!!

All was well in the end but I would advise that you keep a very close eye on her as quite honestly I don't think any of the staff, including doctors, gave my mother much priority.
