    999 tonight

My mums in a care home and tonight the home phoned 999
And I dashed to the hospital been there 6hrs
    Mums has lost her speech
She says blah, blah blah and shouts them out
I think she knows am there or someone's there?
    I go back on Sunday
    Is this part of alzheirmers
    Or a urine infection
    I am so upset
    Thurs her birthday.
Friday took her to hospital echo heart test
    Saturday 999 call

Poor you. Your poor mum. I am sure you did everything right. Go to the hospital tomorrow and keep her company. Then the doctors will be able to assess and treat her. They may not do much on a Sunday - but on Monday when they all come back on duty they should have a closer look at her. Good luck.

Sorry to hear your upsetting news. Do hope the hospital conduct the necessary tests and get to the bottom of things soon so your mum feels better. With dementia people can often take such a sharp downturn when they’re not well and then recover incredibly well. Hope you get some rest tonight. Good luck and good wishes.

I had a similar experience with my mother. She had a severe urine infection and was hallucinating, talking gibberish and in a really bad state. It took two weeks before we had a proper diagnosis but she respnded well to strong antibiotics and in total spent three weeks in hospital before she was well again.

My mother didn't have Az at the time but I honestly thought she had because of the speed of her descent into jibberish talk.

Hopefully once your mother has the right medication, things will improve as the did for my mother. I do hope so.

Can't remember where I heard that, but very true.

I'm sure your mum knew you were there, too. We use different parts of our brain to process speech, hearing and understanding language so just because we may be unable to talk it doesn't mean we can't hear or understand what's being said to us.

Your mum will have heard your kind words and will have understood them and will have taken great comfort from your presence.

I hope they get to the bottom of the problem soon.

    God bless,

    Maggie
