Boyfriend stopped smoking drinking to run his first half marathon for Alzheimer's

    Hi all

Not only have I managed to subtly persuade my boyfriend to do his longest run yet, he has successfully given up smoking and drinking for the past 4 weeks so that he can do his first Great North Run Half Marathon in Sept!!! I think that is very impressive effort, and I am running the GNR with him, and we're doing it for Alzheimer's Society. Please read our stories and consider sponsoring us on http://www.justgiving.com/AiLyn-Chris

    Thank you!

It is now less than 8 weeks to go, Chris who started running a year ago, has now achieved number one on the runbritain most improved runner leaderboard! Soon, he'll be beating me, and I'll be running after him

His Grand Dad had Alzheimer's, and my 65 year young mum has it too for the past 15 years. The Long Goodbye continues...

Chris is running his first half marathon in September to raise fundsfor Alzheimer's Society. Please consider sponsoring us by texting CCAL50 £2 to 70070. If you are feeling more generous, £10 will be great! You can also sponsor us on www.justgiving.com/AiLyn-Chris

    We thank you so much!

Ok...Chris has officially beaten my PB at park run, good for him!

We've also decided to do the Great Yorkshire Run this sunday as a warm up for the Great North Run. We'll be having a dress rehearsal with our Alzheimer's tops on!

We've also achieved 27% of our target so far, very grateful to everyone who sponsored, we're all doing our bit for Alzheimer's Society! You can text CCAL50 £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070, or www.justgiving.com/AiLyn-Chris

We did it! It was hot, it was hilly, but we ran our first Great Yorkshire Run! We're now ready for the Great North Run half marathon on the 16-9-12!

We've acheived 28% or our target, thank you to all so far! We would like to get to 100% for Alzheimer's Society, we know how hard the 'Long Goodbye' can be. Sponsorship welcome at www.justgiving.com/AiLyn-Chris or text CCAL50 £(amount) to 70070.

    Thanks!

We did it!!! PBs for both of us at the Great North Run. The cheering team at miles 4 and 11 from the Alzheimer's Society were amazing, they really help lift our spirits even though we were completely drenched from the rain! I had the best cup-of-soup at the charity village - it was most welcome, thank to all the Alzheimer's Society volunteers!
