I'm so sorry that you are going through such a difficult time at present.

We must try to remember that Respite Care is for the carer not the person with dementia.

My 96 year old Mum, goes into respite care on a fairly regular basis, for one week at a time. Of course, depending on who else is in the care home at the time, she can really enjoy her stay.

After the week is up and she is home again with us she can't remember if she has been away and settles down usually within one day.

You sound like you desperately need a break. Please give it a try.
