    Care Home Fees - Question

Have just had our first invoice for the new care home dad recently transferred to.

However they have charged us for June based on the month having 31 rather than 30 days (even though at the top of the bill it says for period 1 June - 30 June) and just wondered with homes in general, are monthly fees always based on a month having 31 days and then you’re credited at some point in the future?

Also, are most people charged for a month in advance?

    Thanks,

Sorry, further to previous post I've done my sums again and the home's maths is actually correct - was never v good at figures!

However would be interested to know if people usually pay care home fees for a month in advance? ie. you'd pay the fees for the whole of June at the beginning of the month?

    Thanks,

Hi pheath sorry no answers to your question as I don't (yet) have experience of fees. those who do know will be along as soon as they can with their experiences. Just thought I'd "bump" this post for you

    Hi Pheath
Yes, we had to pay for a month in advance, don't know why though.
Actually Dad died after a week so we asked and got a refund of the balance.
I have a feeling its common practice but not sure, others will know.

Thanks so much everyone, that's kind of you to respond. Seems it's not so uncommon to ask for a month in advance and perhaps is the CH's insurance against non-payment. Dill, so sorry about your dad.

Hi Pheath, I get the bill for my mother's care home fees round about 10th of the month for the previous month. The home adjust the bill if my mother spends a night away or is out for the day and misses some meals. Lilykins x
