Many forum members will know that volunteers have always been key to ensuring that Talking Point is a safe, relevant and supportive environment for people living with dementia.

New members sign up to Talking Point every day, and as the forum grows, we want to ensure that all members continue to feel welcomed, included and supported, throughout their time with us.

So, we have created a new volunteer role for Talking Point: ‘Volunteer Host’. The aim is that Hosts will volunteer alongside the moderating team, providing extra support to the forum and its members, and enabling us to provide a better, and more responsive service.

Key aspects of the Host role will be:

• Welcoming new members

• Helping to direct members to useful resources

• Explaining how to carry out basic tasks on Talking Point (e.g. sending a Private Message, or posting a new message on the main forum).

Volunteer Hosts will not be expected to enforce forum rules, or perform any technical tasks beyond those that they would routinely carry out as a member.

We hope the Host role will appeal to members who would like to offer more support to Talking Point, but who may not feel, for whatever reason, that the Moderator role is suitable for them.
