Is there a way to block outgoing calls???

    Hi Everyone,
My Grandmother is on her own at home, after my Grandfather passed away last year (also a dementia sufferer). She was diagnosed in 2010 but has recently become increasingly confused and is on the phone constantly asking to go home. Her recent telephone bill was unusually high as she had rung the talking clock 276 times. Virgin are unable to offer any solution. Does anyone know if there is a way to block all outgoing calls except 999 and certain designated numbers???
    Thank you!!

Hi, Virgin media do have a incoming only service, it costs £2.05 a month extra, phone them back and tell them it is on their website.

It's possible to selectively block classes of numbers, or all non-emergency numbers, or ensure that only chosen numbers can be called.

    See recent thread:

In the case of Virgin Media, see 'Call Barring' in

123 speaking clock is a particular problem, as it doesn't conveniently fall into a category like premium-rate numbers that you might block while allowing ordinary land-line numbers. BT's Network Controlled Calling provides a way around that - not necessarily ideal, but should do the job. If Virgin Media can't help, you could switch providers.

The trouble is that it was free for many years and the elderly got in the habit of ringing it. Now they can't understand you have to pay for it. MIL used to tell us that someone else rang the number from her phone, not her.

Someone I once knew had an 'Incoming Calls' only arrangement with BT. Whether this meant she absolutely couldn't ring out I'm not sure. there has to be some arrangement possible surely. how about a pay as you go mobile.
