I have altered this, should be ok now, fascinating interview even though it was done in 2004 it is still very relevant today.

I have listened to 7 minutes of the video and found it very interesting indeed. I don't have the time to listen to an hour though. It does remind me of my problem when Alan was diagnosed with FTD. I was told it was a very rare form of dementia, that nothing much was known about it and there was no cure!! In my quest to find help and information I could only come across things associated with Alzheimers Disease. I discovered in my own journey that Alan's needs were very different to those people with Alzheimers disease. All the carers had been trained in AZ. In fact the only training seemed to be based on AZ. As I learned Alan's needs, I had to train the carers and carers associations myself in different care needs. I discovered that giving Alan the actual care that was relevant to his particular form of dementia enabled him to have a good life. The wrong treatment was very detrimental to him. I therefore found that this was good cause enough to try to have a proper diagnosis and I feel it must be tremendously difficult for those where this is not happening.

The interview is 55 minutes long, it gives an insight into AD in the USA but also possibly why we have not seen the predicted Human BSE epidemic in the UK, it answers a lot of questions about the links between AD & prion diseases. It also highlights the importance on why we should be looking for other prion diseases at autopsy.

This would be extremely difficult as Prof. Kelleher states that pathologists are not willing to perform autopsies because of certain risks. This is about 6 mins. into the video link. They would have to get their own act together first I suspect.
