Hi TP friends
I thought i would post some positive news about Dads progress this week because i know many of you have felt in the depths of despair at times the same way i have over the past few weeks so its nice to have something good to report.
Dad started taking Ebixa last Monday and i have to say he does seem to be calmer and also more aware / alert than he was prior to taking it, he is only on 5mg and i understand this will increase to 10mg this week so fingers crossed, he has had a much more stable and calm week with no incidents at the assesment centre which is great.
He also had a brain function PET scan this week so we are wqaiting to see what these results bring.
Today Dad came home from the assesment centre for the first time in 5 weeks just for the day but its a start, i was a bit worried as to how it would go but he has just gone back and can report it was a very successful day, he was happy to be home and recognised everything and everyone, had a good dinner and a bath and got on fine, one of the concerns i had was him managing to use the loo as he has had a few mishaps in the hospital however he managed fine so its made me feel very hopeful that if things continue we will be able to have Dad home and look after him full time again.
There have been times over the past few weeks when i could not see this would ever happen and i guess it shows how things can change and medication for the symptoms can help, i pray that the Ebixa continues to work and agree with him , fingers crossed the positive will continue.
I just wanted to say thankyou for your support and being there for me, and i wanted to let others in my situation know that things can get better, i have certainly questioned the effectiveness of the assesment centre since Dad went in, they are very depressing places and its horrible leaving your loved ones there however Dad does look pretty healthy and he certainly has been eating well so on reflection they do seem to be helping and i know he is safe and looked after.![]()
