Exclamation I'm having the weekend off

My husband is away on a 'lads' weekend (I use the word lads loosely!!) with the hope of seeing some footie and I have been to the theatre for a long awaited booking to see Ghost.

I decided to give myself the 'weekend off' and get the carers to pick up on what I usually do - a rarity unless I'm on holiday.

I must admit it is VERY strange to not be checking the clock to ensure my mothers lunch gets cooked and taken at the right time (well ok I am checking the clock through habit but it is strange to not have the oven on !).

I am at my mothers every day at least once (with the help of carers at other times during each day) so having been warned I was at carer overload a few weeks ago by TPers I decided for once to take some advice and step back about once every month or 6 weeks.

I kind of feel guilty for taking the time (my sister feels no such guilt for over 40 years of no help) but I just look at it logically that my mum is looked after and I get some rest for a change. Notwithstanding the weather is so awful today it is sheer bliss to not need to go out!!!!!

It will back to all systems go again tomorrow but it is nice while it lasts.................................

We too have really bad weather today but after yesterday I've taken some time to cwtch up on the settee with a book and the cat. Mum is settled and it's a good excuse not to do anything apart from the, watch out swear word coming, ironing, sorry it slipped out. and now I'm checking in with all my fellow TPers
