    Can care home stop me taking father out overnight?

    Hi
    my dad was put into a care home by his wife 3 weeks ago because she couldnt cope. There is no legal detainment order on him as far as I know but when I proposed taking him to my house to stay overnight the care home went spare! His wife has written them a letter saying no one can take him out for more than 4 hours. What is my legal position?

    Your father`s wife is next of Kin and I suppose she has POA. It is tough for you but unless anyone feels his wife does not have his best interests at heart, you will have to rely on her good will.

    Why don't you take him out for up to 4 hours a few times until he has settled in the home then you night be able to take him out overnight , his wife will have his best interests at heart
