Another donation for your brave man's swim

Have finally got round to sponsoring Owen's brave swim. Wish I could be there on the day to cheer him on.

Have put an entry on my FB page to 'bump' the thread up there.

Hope grandad is well ( and all the other family members too of course )

    Love
    Mo

I just thought I would post a quick update on how things are going.

    Amazing new total is £845.00!!!!!!!!

This is absolutely brilliant. I'm so proud of Owen.

His training is going really well. There's a massive 100yd long, unheated outdoor lido in Cambridge which opened on Saturday for the summer. This is a good place for Owen to train as he can acclimatise to the colder water (14 dec C just now ), and get used to swimming in his wetsuit. Also the longer length means he doesn't waste so much training time turning at the ends of the pool. He went on Saturday and swam 6.5 miles. His coach is really happy with how his training is going.

    So far so good.

If anyone wants to donate you can do it by visiting www.justgiving.com/owen-chapple. We have also set up text giving where you can text ASOC99 followed by the amount (£5 or £10) to 70070.

    Wow!

Have a look at the link below from the Cambridge News. The man who swam 110 lengths was Owen

Poor Owen is shattered!! He swam that 110 lengths on Saturday. The pool is 94m long so that equated to 6.5 miles!!!!

He then swam 2 miles Monday night, and another 6 today!!!!!!!!

Tonight he fell asleep, sat on the landing at the top of our stairs, while he was waiting for the girls to clean their teeth at bedtime!!!

    Just an update...

So we're now 10 days from the event itself. All equipment is organised - boat is booked, kayak booked, food and drinks planned, jobs for all our supporters are pretty much shared out.

Mum and Dad are heading up to the lakes next Monday, and we'll get there Tuesday morning. Everyone else arrives on the Thursday, and the swim itself will be on Friday 8th June. Owen's feeling good about it all and he can't wait to do it. Me? - I just can't wait for it to be over, to know that it's done, and that Owen's safe and well afterwards.

    The latest total is £1160
