    Not a good day!!

Not a good way to start the day this morning as I’ve just spent 5 hours trying to get a continues internet connection, no sooner was it connected and I went to use the internet it cut of again… to say that I’m stressed out and frustrated would be an understatement!!
So I got my stepdaughter to phone the telephone company who said there was nothing wrong with the internet… I tried again but still it would not connect… so my stepdaughter tried and it connected immediately. Maybe it’s just a problem with my brain today!!!!!!!!! Plus all the noise in the house that’s making me frantic!!!

    Hello Barry,
Thanks for your reappearance and giving news about yourself in Talking Point. I wish some other senior members who have dementia also give news about themselves they used to do before. I have dementia section without yours and others postings looks to me very weak.

Regarding your thread and from my experience I know how important internet connection for us. I use internet spend my all day. Without it I am nobody. I do only limited things when my internet connection is gone. I switch OFF the power of the modem wait 1 minute and switch ON again. I don’t know other technical or software procedures, except checking if there are any loose wire connections. I appreciate how it is frustrated job to fix it by yourself or finding out the reason of loosing internet connection.
Did your stepdaughter explain the reason why her try was successful?
If not I think after informing Telephone Company they rechecked and fixed the problem.

I hope the noise in the house was temporary and was for that day only or will stop in a short time. Like for all dementia patients my brain also very disturbed by the noise. It may be good idea to buy a suitable ear plugs to reduce hearing sensitivity and to use when necessary.

    Best wishes, Haydar

    Many thanks

Hi Granny G, Haydar and Christin,

Many thanks for your replies and fortunately the internet problems seem to have resolved themselves and the noise in the house has subsided to a normal rhythm, unfortunately when its noise I’ve got no escape as our bedroom backs onto the terrace where everyone including the children seem to congregate so its something I just have to try and live with!!

Good to hear from you Haydar and hope all is well for you in Istanbul-Turkey…

    Best wishes to you all

    Hi Barry

I have had problems getting onto two websites today, and after an hour of frustration I turned my antivirus software off, and found that it was this, that was causing my problem.
Since turning the antivirus back on again everything works fine, and I did a scan just to check.
I think these things are finely tuned that they block some websites which are perfectly safe to use.

One of the websites it blocked was Talking Point, something I found strange, but at least its all fine now.

I was close to ringing virgin media, but did not think that would achieve very much after my daughter had a lot of trouble with them.

There are times when I hate computers, but we need them so we have to put up with their problems.

    Keep up your good work

    Ken
