Hi has anyone encountered this.my wife pauline has uncontrollable bouts of laughter very short lived though, i understand it is one of many symptoms of alzheimers.

Hello, I am sorry you have had not had any replies to your original post. I assume this is because no one felt they had any knowledge or experience that would help you.

I don't really have any myself, except to say that in the early stages we did experience some inappropriate laughter at bad news, at sad items on the TV etc.

I hope someone else can help you. Perhaps it might be worth you contacting the AS helpline

I really hope you do get some answers to your questions.

    With best wishes.

thanks christin have read about it on the internet it is definately what is happening just was wondering if anybody had anything to do with it, i will phone the cpn and ask i think it is just one of the courses the disease can manifest itself. its outbursts of laughter at innappropiate times it seems to be getting more frequent, it does not bother me but wondered if it would need treatment, i think all they can do is try different antidepresents.

I`m also sorry no one responded to you till now. I can`t find out anything on the AS site but a Google search revealed the following, which you have probably already read for yourself.
