Esther Rantzen's new campaign - "Silverline 24hr telephone service"

The Sunday Times published a story on p.4 today about Esther Rantzen calling for a Childline for the Aged. Unfortunately you have to subscribe to read ST online but it may have been featured in other newspapers. The idea is to have a 24hr telephone hotline to be set up to blow the whistle on the abuse of elderly people. "Silverline" as ER has christened the phone service could be used by vulnerable old people and their carers to report neglect and cruelty.

I think this is an excellent idea. A one stop help line would be so much easier for people.

Problem is though that a lot of older people are not aware of what abuse actually means and that it isn`t just about physical abuse. Need a TV campaign!!!
