All busy online forums have to deal with spammers from time to time (people who send unsolicited messages with the aim of promoting their goods or services with forum users).

For the vast majority of the time, our moderating team ban spammers before they get to do anything on Talking Point (which is why you rarely see them!), but very occasionally, the odd one can slip through the net, and may manage to either post a message on the main forum, or contact a member, before they are permanently banned.

Without wanting to be in any way alarmist, this is just a gentle reminder to treat any unsolicited PMs or friendship requests - particularly from new members, or people with whom you’ve not been in contact before - with a healthy amount of caution.

If you receive any contact from another member (new or otherwise) that concerns you, please do report this, either by contacting a member of the moderating team or by emailing Serena and I at talkingpoint@alzheimers.org.uk.

Many thanks,
