Christmas Day stresses!

Well I hope you have all had as good a day as possible.

Today started out very stressful with mother, demanding to get ready to go to friends for 9am, even thought she only got up at 8.55! We weren't going over until at least 11am so that was a tad tiring.

I sat her done and got her a cup of tea and brought her, her tablets,painkillers, thyroid, food digestion ones.

She opened her presents, ohhing and ahhing as we went along so that wasn't so bad. She sat and counted them and came to 35 presents, lots of small bits and pieces just wrapped all separately, this included my brothers and my friends ones. She then said oh what did you get, i got a couple of lovely ones from my friends a voucher from my brother (!) and a card from mother. She then said oh you didn't get much! I said i must have been on the naughty list

I assume no crimbo from mother will come, lol.

Anyway, i went off to have a shower as I had just packed the food to take over to my friends for Christmas Lunch. Came down and mother announced to me that she had taken her tablets Erm what tablets - oh my morning tablets, i went and checked she had decided to go and take her lunch time tablets 55 minutes after the ones i had just given her !!!

This concerned me greatly, this in total made her have over 2,000 mg of painkillers!!!!!!
I called the surgery and got the number for NHS24, and got a fabulous young lady who calmly talked her way through everything and then said she would get a nurse to call me back as they were all busy on calls but it wouldn't be long. Within 3 minutes I had a doctor on the phone as he felt it was important rather than a nurse to call me back. He explained some of the side effects she may have having had the extra painkillers, but nothing too serious, but of course any problems to take her to a hospital immediately. I wished him a Merry Christmas and apologised for the call on Christmas day, and he said he was more than happy to talk help. Awww bless.

Anyway got over to my friends an hour and half late, but still managed to get lunch on the table for 2.45, including the cooking of the veg and chicken (don't like turkey)

Anyway my friend had done a lovely table, and took a lot of preassure off of me and I can't thank her enough for her kindness. Mum was waining by 5.30 so we packed up and came home. She sat down and had a cuppa and then settled in to watch the soaps,She can't really follow them but knows the characters of sorts but no idea what happens in them.

In the meantime mother was convinced I was her mother,and kept calling me 'mum'. Found this uneasy as this is another syndrome!

Anyway I am sure I am not the only to have the usual Christmas excitement, but do hope that nothing you have gone through has been too harrowing.

We had a good day, although mum got very agitated after opening one present and didnt want to open anymore. Dad was able to come out of hospital for a few hours and by 5.00pm they were both ready to go. Dad had to go back to hospital and mum back to the care home. First Christmas night that they went their separate ways after 53 years of marriage.
That was the hardess part of the day, but not as hard as your day. Where to you get the strength.
This is just the start for me.

Hi iMac, glad it all came together...eventually!

We were on the phone to nhs direct as well yesterday. Pa on antibiotics, just a dreadful cold but due to chronic asthma he will be hospitalised if it gets onto his chest so he is always give anti-bs. Yesterday one side of his face swelled up so we were worried that he'd now developed an allergy to amoxcillin as well as other ones he can't tolerate.

Your friend sounds like a really good pal, and it must have been nice for your to have some company besides your mum.

Just New Year to get through now. Don't know about you but I shall sleep through it I think

Yeah Vonny,

I think I have only ever sat up for about 6 New Years in all my life.

I just don't do it. Saying that if the weather doesn't go downhill again I may drive up to my bosses and first foot them. Although I have promised my friend to babysit, as her and her (new) boyfriend may be going into George Square for the big party thing, for her son. They are trying to get another ticket for him to go too, so we will wait and see.

Anyway off to see if mother wants to hit the sales, shes always quite liked them. I might just get a Crimbo present out of her this way, lol

My mum was the opposite she seemed like a wee lost soul at times and is quite confused again today looking to see when we are opening our presents and what we got from Santa.
Back on Aricept today fingers crossed she is not sick I just dont want to see her like that any day never mind at christmas.
