I looked at mum's notes in hospital before she got out and they state that the scan found that she has age related brain atrophy (she is 92). I wondered if anyone knows if that is another name for age related dementia. She scored 14 on the MMSE which they did when she was admitted (I think this was done by a junior doctgor on the ward, not a dementia specialist). 14 was more than I thought she would score and the doctor said it was the same score she had when she was in hospital 2 years ago. I did ask the doctor if they would give her a dementia drug but she said the score was too low. I don't know if her referral to the old age psychiatry department is still on the cards after her hospital stay but I will try to find out this week.

'The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.'

I imagine it must be a very busy time at school just at the moment but hopefully you will be getting a good break soon.
