Today I popped in to see my Mum at 3.30pm then had to nip up the shops, when I came back I popped in to see her again, and all her lights were off. When I checked she was sound asleep in bed, nightie on etc etc. So I woke her and explained it was only 5pm. As I still had to cook tea I suggested I put a film on for her whcih I did. After tea I went to check again and she had gone to bed again! So I woke her again to explain it was only 6.30pm and still too early for bed, so she had a bit of a nag at me because she didn't know what they were doing with the nights lately, and they seemed to be all over the place.
I honestly think she would be better off going to the day centre a bit more as being out keeps her occupied and gives her "time clues" I do try and pop in on her a lot but I have the rest of the family too. I also find she is nolonger able to initiate anything like asking for a film or music to be put on, and she will just sit doing literally nothing unless I suggest something. It seems now she is only really able to initiate things like dressing and undressing (sometimes two or three times a day if she gets time confused), using the loo etc, and getting simple snacks, But now things are all out of kilter with time breakfast can be eaten twice a day or whatever. I just figure as she is still happy and reasonably safe I let her more or less carry on. I am worrying she might try to go out at the wrong time soon though. There is NO way I will take keys out of locks as I have a fear of being trapped in a burning building, but I might put a bolt up high out of her reach. If anyone has any time mamnagement ideas I would be grateful.
