    Smile Talking Point flyers

A photo of Norman and Peg, which so many have been pleased to see, fronts the new leaflet promoting Talking Point.

    Members can order copies online;
    http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/site/sc....php?formID=72
for distibution in their local area.

I handed some to my new Admiral Nurse, and have ordered more to distribute at our Relative`s Support Group. I shall also ask at our GP`s surgery and local library, if some can be left there.

If anyone has any good ideas for distribution, please post them.

Sadly these leaflet can only be sent out to UK members.

I have put some on the noticeboard at Jan's home.

The last fliers I tried to get put in the local GP surgery but they wanted to put it to a committee and it then disappeared into the ether.

    Think I'll try again......

Can I order them as an individual?

There are 3 surgeries locally I have access to..and also the out-patients at the local hospital where Eric sees the consultant.

This is a shared area with podiatry ..which happens at the same time as the "Mental Health Care for the Elderly" clinic..

...the space is also obviously used at other times for the STD clinic..

There are all sorts of leaflets available...fungal toe-nails..flu...chlamydia....TB....the usual PCT update...

Nothing remotely concerned with Dementia..when I take Eric there I almost feel as though it's being brushed under the carpet.

Dr. N****** clinic is not advertised in the same way the others are. There is no receptionist.
I've done the role of receptionist myself..while waiting to be seen...people turn up and present themselves to an empty desk.. I tell them if they are to see Dr N. to take a seat and they will be called.

The more I think about this..the more I think it is wrong...

    I just accepted it...

    It's not good.

If I can order leaflets and get them in there..it's a start.

I may even hassle for a receptionist...

    Love gigi xx

    Hi Gigi

yes please do order them as an individual - I think they come in batches of 50 but you just need to fill in the online form, as detailed by Sylvia, above.

They are small enough to keep in the car to put relevant places as the opportunity presents.

    Hello:

I have just ordered 50. Our local surgery will co-operate as will the Respite area where David has just spent his first week.

There are several Alz. cafes here - will they already be covered? If not I will soon get rid of my 50. If they are, then there are loads of local 'notice boards' I can use.

Lovely photo of Norman and Peg!

    Love Jan

What's that joke about the first man to swim the channel and the response to the news being 'Now when a committee swims the channel THEN I'll be impressed...'?

Have ordered the leaflets and will spread them far and wide.

Can you download them? Might be a way of distributing them outside the UK as we have a lot of members outside the UK, not to mention people outside the UK who read TP without actually joining, who could access them that way.

    Thumbs up

Just realised. I have supplied the local surgeries, and know that our local group have a good supply.

Lionel's wonderful care home have them on the entrance hall tables...........but they have a further two homes in the group.

Just off to put another order in online.

    Keep spreading the word.

Will order some now and take them along to the two forums I belong to for distribution there, and the carers information sevices office. Wish I had had them this week as we had a stand for two days in the local Asda store.

Instead of verbally talking about T.P. I can now pass on leaflets. Hooray.
Nursing Homes, Doctors Surgery and to the Consultants there I will be.

The fliers are a great idea. Your GP surgery reminds me of mine... but I'll give it a go. Lots of leaflets there but yet to see anything about dementia. let us know if you have more success this time?

There is a PDF version of the flyer which people from outside the UK could use - but I need to check with the Alzheimer's Society whether they are willing for me to make it available.

Obviously members in the UK could use it for one off copies as well.

    Will let you know.

    Hi

I have ordered 50 to see how I get on.

I plan, if I can get permission to put them in our Dr's surgery, Mum and Dad's care home and give them to the relatives support group there. They have 5 units so one on every notice board will be OK, also a few to hand out to relatives.

I also thought of the dentist and the C0-OP notice board, our village hall notice board and also notice boards. in various village halls around the area.

What about motorway services? I live between two services. I don't know if it would be allowed. What do you think?

If anyone has any other ideas, I would be happy to try it in this area.
