Hi Val! how are you this morning? It's freezing here in Birmingham. What's it like where you are? How often do you go up to see your Mum? Sometimes I still feel guilty for putting Gordon into a Home and I know that's irrational, but I did the right thing, because he is in the best place, and I can't cope with him at home - it's a tiny flat with four rooms and a narrow short corridor. You can walk the length in 8 footsteps! Hey, how do I go about making a signature for myself? Things like "laughter is the best medicine" or "iron sharpens iron" (what I want to put). Hope to hear from you soon. Take care. Di xx

Hello Val B, my name is Diane, 45, from Birmingham. My husband, Gordon, 65, is in a Home with advanced AD. He doesn't know who I am, though recently he correctly named me as he pointed to my photo on the wall to a Carer! I'm finding it hard to cope emotionally and cry most days. I am slightly autistic, having the condition Asperger's Syndrome, and apparently those with the ASD find it hard to cope with the grieving process, which is essentially what we're experiencing. I write poetry on it, with the hope that others can gain comfort. Would you like to see my poem on what (I think) Gordon feels about staying in the Residential Home? What is your interest in TP? Do you have experience with a loved one? Want to make friends with me? It would be great, as I note you haven't made any friends, and I only have 6. I joined in July. Take Care, hope to hear from you. Diane xx

This is the lifebelt that I am currently clinging on to - Mum in her younger days would not have expected me to have her live with me as a dementia sufferer. Mum in her younger days would not have wanted her welfare to be constantly in my thoughts. As she has suddenly deteriorated and is now, to our mutual surprise, in a nursing home her welfare is constantly in my thoughts but as I tackle each practical problem I try to refer to how Mum in her younger days would have wanted me to act, and do my...

In June my mum was coping in her own home with two carer visits a day to help with personal care and medication management. She was cooking (microwaving) meals for herself, and caring for her two pet dogs, managing to do the laundry, but needed help with heavier housework (bed-changing, hoovering).
She decided to move much nearer to me and we did this in early July (me masterminding it all. We had an excellent removal company, too).
She and the dogs loved the new house, and seemed...
