Morning Norms. Paying a quick visit to TP before I disappear until the end of the week. I hope you are feeling more like your usual positive optimistic self and that Elaine is well.
    Love to you both

    Hi Norrms
Thank you so much for your message, I do appreciate and value all your comments. There's not much I can do for Brian now except continue to love and support him, the home had an organist in today and when he played on song Brian cried, think its because it has sentimental words and on one level Brian still loves me but knows things are not how they used to be and he would like those days back, as so would I, but we have to accept life as it is now, we have no choice. I hope you are keeping well and that Elaine and family are ok and coming to terms with the loss of your brother in law, I lost my mother last year so understand how hard it is to cope with that as well as the AD.
    My love to you all

Hi Norrms. Glad you and Elaine make it back North from time to time. Although I'm a Wigan lass, I went to school in Bolton, so know it well. Love to you and Elaine.

    Thanks Norrms.
I am still not very good, but will try and look on the bright side, be grateful for what i've still got and not look too far ahead. Haven't read any threads since I've been back, so need to get back in routine and maybe that will help.
    Love

Thanks Norms. It's a cliche but counting your blessings really does work. But sometimes we need to be reminded. I'm not sure about TP. It's good gto be amongst people who really understand but when I read the carers cries of despair I think about the future for my loved ones and feel worse than ever. You obviously gbet a lot out of it,

    Hi Norrms & Elaine,
Thanks for the insight into it from your perspective I find it very useful, Brian is further down the road, unfortunately, a month ago bordering on incontinent, unable to feed himself, little or no understanding, unsteady on his feet, now much more alert, able to join in some conversations, why this has changed I don't know unless medication was sedating him a bit and now he is used to the medication so not as effective, who knows! We have been to HxLL and back these last few months with agitation and aggression but now all seems very settled, long may it last!
    Love
    Lorraine

    Hi Norrms & Elaine,
Thanks for your comments, Brian is usually quiet and can seem asleep then suddenly makes a comment, so probably as you do, waiting till he has something relevant to say. What I cannot understand is that 99% of the time it appears that he cannot understand what is being said because the replies bear no relation to the comments, then he can say something that is clear and relevant. I am wondering if he can understand more of what is said than I thought but just cannot make sensible answers! I will watch what I say in future just in case (sometimes ask carers things about his care when he is there etc. But if I say something simple like stand up, he cannot understand me! this illness is so confusing! but I would hate to upset Brian in any way, so will err or side of caution and think before I open my mouth! new experience for me!!
    Love
    Lorraine

Hello everybody, as i sit here at this late hour, well it is for me, i`m usually ready for bed at this time but "much is going on" within the family ( i may explain one day but not yet) that i thought i would "Write" about the last 24hrs. As you all thought and quite rightly so, Elaine has strongly advised against a visit to see my step brother stephen as it would be too distressing for all of us. On going to bed last night all i could think of were the times we spent as kids...

Hi, end of day and feeling very tired. Cold still raging on but a little better than yesterday. If anyone would like to rent this headache for a couple of hours please do Ha Ha Ha. Not allowed strong pain killers because of heart failure so there`s a few big dents in the wall !! Only joking! Early night tonight for me (AGAIN) but quickly running out of Brandy !! Who thinks "Baileys will do the same ??LOL Best wishes, Norrms and family xxxxxxxx

Hiya, well, thats another one off my list of "Things to do before i die" lol.
We have just come back from Burnham on Sea winter carnival (our first carnival) and to say i as left open mouthed and speechless last night as the floats passed by would be an understatement!!LOL On the sunday night they had a huge firework display on the beach right in front of the hotel we stayed in then last night it was carnival time. Some of the floats were huge and on some the people stood like statues...

As i sat there in our flat last night watching the fireworks explode in the nightime sky my mind wandered to days gone by when bonfire night was always a time to look forward to. I have never really been a "firework`s" kind of guy and still believe that organised displays are the best way to enjoy them. But at least in them days i had a choice.Everytime i smell wood smoke it takes me back to a time of a bonfire in a Northern cobbled back street with mums in floral pinnies bringing the...
