I daren't go to any of these AZ coffee mornings I feel as if John will either do as your husband does or he will ask me why he is here and he hasn't got anything wrong with him!!!!
I' m not convinced about John having AZ either Sue he doesn't follow any pattern but they say no 2 people with dementia are the same don't they.
    Ah well
    LOve and hugs

Ah - thanks - yes I've taken leave of absence from my PhD - frankly can't see me getting back to it for years now - & I'm missing sleep just trying to stretch the day & having to keep a close eye on everything or it will just unravel - phrase I am most likely to say - it is like our lives and what we value are like sand tricking between fingers........xx, S

Hi Sue - I may be heading for carer's ass too - what sort of things tick the box for the assessment? - my husband appears to outside world to be independant but he is not - he may be more advanced in disease than yours - but others don't see a thing wrong....I'm thinking hygiene, nourishment, appearance, safety, security, finances....?

Hi Sue, I'm sorry you are not well either. Have you been quarantined too? Have you noticed whether David is any more confused? If he does become more confused than usual in any way, it might be that he has the virus or whatever it is. Hope you get well soon. Take care and keep your feet up. Love Helen

Sue, he didn't say why. You could start with saying that you have reason to believe that David has FTD rather than Alzheimers and that this is causing you some concern especially as the needs are different and the worry over medication. If it were me, I would be wanting them to work with me in trying to get the best possible care and treatment for Alan and I would say that I was dependent on their help!! I will be thinking of you. x

Hi Sue, Alan's consultant was very emphatic that Alzheimers medication could be dangerous and most unhelpful. I would definitely get them to take him off it Sue if it was Alan. I'm just popping in quickly because I have had such a busy day (again). xx

Well this is the first time I have 'blogged' and I am not even sure I am doing it right!
The last few days have been hell and I feel that David has deteriorated so much recently, so much so that I finally decided this morning to phone Social Services and request an assessment for us both. They are going to phone me back.

Instead of feeling better when I got off the phone I felt an absolute heel and so upset - I was finally admitting that I couldn't cope much longer the way...
