Hi Sue
What a shame, mind you Hertfordshire is lovely too. We used to live in Bedfordshire at the bottom of the downs but not far from the Hertfordshire border as you know. I love St. Albans.
The care home I know is a proof that good care homes do exist. It is light and airy with a beautiful garden, they have a secure section and an open section, but the front door is always locked. The matron is slightly disabled and wonderful, and the staff terific. My husbands cousin has been there for several years, and she loves it there even though she had to be sectioned to go there. She is now in the very late stages of dementia and all she does is wandering around singing scottish songs. Strangely enough she speaks really well, but does not know anything or anybody anymore. She is 93 and physically very healthy, but for years she has prayed every night that she would not wake up the following morning. That is just so sad. HOPE YOU FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. Very best wishes

Hi Winnie
Thanks for thinking of me! - We live in Watford, Hertfordshire quite a way from the Cotswolds unfortunately as I love it there! I haven't given up yet in fact I have been looking online this evening. I am just hoping that they aren't all as depressing as the one I saw today - it really was such a shock and totally unsuitable for early onset sufferers like my husband. As irritating as he is I couldn't live with myself if I put him in there, even for a week's respite.
Love Sue x
