Did anyone see the two programmes on BBC2 last Tuesday and last night? They were pretty hard hitting and very upsetting. I have real concerns about the inconsistent approach to the quality of care home provison in relation to those that can afford and those that can't. Also the relationship between profit and care is a real worry. The government really needs to face up to the fact there is going to be a much greater need for dementia care in the future. I am passionate that people with dementia do have a role in life but do need to be appropriately cared for as people who are ill and very vulnerable not just people who are old. They should not disregarded and left waiting to die. Good care costs money but does make a difference. Poor care just doesn't bear thinking about. I am sure we all believe that everyone should be entitled to the same level of care when it is required. It shouldn't be a lottery.
