I will try to explain. My husband varies between late end and final stage - not necessarily absolute final (he varies daily and I am on a rollercoaster with it).
I will try to attach a link about the stages of Alzheimers but every person is different.

If you google ‘Stages of Dementia’ you will find ‘7 stages’ or ‘3 stages’ which may interest you.
In my husband's case we know he is not fit even to undergo the ambulance journey for a pacemaker check up. Even if he withstands this and it needs replacement the GP says he is unlikely to withstand the procedure (its hardly an operation).
My husband has apnea, contractures and subject to mini strokes. We know it is not in his best interests to prolong life. It hurts me like hell.
Maybe as a spouse I have more say but or I am fortunate to have wonderful understanding GPs.
May as children you need POA to cover welfare and health to have any say. I am unclear on this as it is beyond my experience.
I am not sure who you mean by Management Staff? It may be worth you discussing this with the GP as they may be more rounded with their views.
Not sure if this helps but hope so.
Best wishes
