    My mum and I have never been close,got nothing in common.To her,family was what got in the way of having fun.She tried to make me the kind of daughter she could show off,teaching me to pluck my eyebrows while I was still at primary school,(dad put his foot down on that!)

    When I was 14 I met my future husband and was welcomed into his lovely family.Even now,almost 50yrs later, my SIL is my friend first! I married when I was 17 and,free from responsibility at last, Dad flew the coop ...
